For those of you who just like a good laugh at another’s shortfall here is a little ditty that has come across my desk, (disclaimer, I have no clue if it is true but it is truly funny).
For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwestern parts of the United States, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.
A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report stating that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the "cattle" guards immediately!!
Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President, Joe Biden, intervened with a request that before any "cattle" guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining.
And these guys are running our country, OMG!!
Like I stated at the beginning of this, who knows if this is factual however, I tend to think that it might have some merit. I have traveled around this country and spoken to many, many people over the years. Over the years when speaking to those who have seldom been west of the Mississippi river or even for the fact that they have a hard time understanding Open Range Ranching they have little clue what the open roadways look like.
When we vote for a President, Vice President, Senator, Congressman or any other state or local office holder we need to make certain that these men and woman know whom they represent, WE THE PEOPLE! We the people live throughout these United States and deserve better then a Harvard educated or for that fact any college educated person who doesn’t understand that the Government isn’t the cure for the economic short falls, that the Government is the problem. When there are dollars given to one person to do or not do any given procedure it makes for an unfair market for another person or entity. Subsidies to grow or not to grow, manufacture or not to manufacture and drill or not to drill create (in simple statement form) unstable and uneven market place.
The US government only obtains money to pay the employee base by taxing We the People. They manufacture nothing. They grow nothing. They only tax We the People. Yes, we need to have people who do certain jobs that it takes to run the country. The government however is the largest employer of our country and we don’t sell anything to offset what we spend in annual salary. You say then lets have the government own the Auto manufactures and the steel mills, Oil companies, the utilities’ and why don’t we just let them own everything. Wow! that sounds grand, the government can control the costs and the production so no one person ever has more then another. Oh wait, that has been tried and the USSR, China, North Korea and other smaller nations are living proof that there will always be someone that has more then others.
Greed is greed and overcomes the best laid plans. Let us look at the US Senate and Congress; these employees of ours (they are employed by us the US citizens) obtain a life long pension after being elected to office. They are covered for life with health coverage better then any military veteran and they aren’t required to pay for it. They will spend millions of dollars to be elected to a job that pays the Rank and File member $174,000 annually. This salary doesn’t include the salaries of the Senator’s and Congressman’s staffing and office needs. How about the Presidential compensation; $400,000 annually plus $50,000 for his/her expenses and again this does not include his/her entire staffing requirements.
Fellow Citizens, we need to open our eyes, our government overspends annually and they seem to think that just because it is another year they deserve a pay increase or an increase in the budget. When the average salary of a government employee overcomes the average salary of a private or public company employee doing the same task we have a problem.
In the private sector the owner of the company can increase the price of the items that they produce to offset the pay increase. However, in the event that the public doesn’t want to pay the increase and they quit buying the items the private sector is forced to layoff employees to maintain a profitable company. The Government however does not lay anyone off when that employee becomes a burden verse a profitable employee.
The short here is this, if you tell me to stop growing corn because farmer Joe isn’t receiving the same dollar amount for his crop that I receive for mine, then who is the benifactor? I am the one who gets hurt because I am the one being told to stop and close my business. Why you ask would this happen? Because farmer Joe can’t produce the same quality of crop that I produce. I use a different type of farming then farmer Joe uses. My way is one that produces a much higher producing method, I produce three times the corn then what Joe produces. Farmer Joe has the same ability to do the same type of farming but chooses not to, however he feels that the Government needs to control my production or he will fail as a farmer. If the people don’t want to buy Joe’s corn then that is what we have been taught is called market dictated outcome.
They want to buy my corn because the corn is more desirable (better taste, finer grind when ground into flour) and is available at a better price. Why? Because I can produce three times the corn per acre then Joe. This is called Supply and Demand. The public does not want Joe’s corn they want mine.
If the President and vice-President of the US actually don’t know what a Cattle Guard is then we have elected the wrong men to govern our country.
